While we don't know for sure which choice she will make, we do know that at some point in the new season Charlie will find herself in New York. We were happy to be the production studio company of choice for the popular series and can't wait to see how our facilities look on the show.
Charlie rarely stays in one place for long, and a new murder mystery awaits in each town she visits. This case-of-the-week format ensures that each episode includes a special guest star — usually playing either a murder victim or a murderer. We previously reported that the new season would employ the talents of dozens upon dozens of guest stars. Last month we reported that even more guest stars had been announced.
Peacock recently dropped first-look photos from the new season, showing Cynthia Erivo, John Mulaney, and Katie Holmes. Peacock also dropped a teaser trailer showing a slew of celebrity guests, including Giancarlo Esposito, Awkwafina, Cliff "Method Man" Smith, Justin Theroux, Taylor Schilling, Kumail Nanjiani, and Melanie Lynskey.
The list of guest stars goes on and on, with Sherry Cola, Kevin Corrigan, John Cho, Davionte "GaTa" Ganter, David Alan Grier, Patti Harrison, Corey Hawkins, Gaby Hoffmann, Carol Kane, Richard Kind, David Krumholtz, Natasha Leggero, Ben Marshall, Margo Martindale, Adrienne C. Moore, Katherine Narducci, B.J. Novak, Ego Nwodim, Haley Joel Osment, Simon Rex, Sam Richardson, Jason Ritter, Alia Shawkat, Lili Taylor, Lauren Tom, and Geraldine Viswanathan announced as guest stars. Additionally, Perlman will return in the new season as Beatrix, and Simon Helberg, who played FBI agent Luca Clark in the first season, will be returning as well.
Lyonne and series creator Rian Johnson were among the show's stars that participated in the recent "Poker Face" panel at PaleyFest LA. Cast members answered fan questions and shared a few details about the roles that some of the guest stars will be playing. Attendees also got an exclusive first look at the new season. Those of us who were not lucky enough to attend will just have to wait until May 9 to see where Charlie goes next.
Adaptation of Colleen Hoover's "Verity" Filming in New York
Anne Hathaway will play the bestselling novelist Verity Crawford in the latest big screen adaptation of a Colleen Hoover novel. "Verity" will be the second film adapted from one of Hoover's novels following last year's hit "It Ends With Us," which made more than $350 million at the worldwide box office on a budget of about $25 million.
Since being self-published by Hoover in 2018, "Verity" has sold millions of copies and even topped the New York Times Bestseller's List. The psychological thriller follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh who is hired by Verity's husband Jeremy to finish writing Verity's popular series of novels after a debilitating accident left her unable to complete the series herself. Once Ashleigh moves in with the ailing Verity and her husband, she finds what appears to be an unfinished autobiography that reveals deeply disturbing secrets about the famed novelist.
Michael Showalter ("The Eyes of Tammy Faye") will be in the director's chair, and Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett will respectively play Lowen and Jeremy, whose professional relationship is tested by their mutual attraction to one another. Ismael Cruz Cordova ("The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power"), Irina Dvorovenko ("The Americans"), Lou Martini Jr. ("The Sopranos"), Michael Abbott Jr. ("Killers of the Flower Moon"), K.K. Moggie ("Gotham Knights"), and Brady Wagner (Broadway's "Merrily We Roll Along") co-star in yet to be announced roles.
The cast has been spotted filming in Queens, where Broadway Stages has a facility with more than a dozen stages. "Verity" is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 15, 2026, so mark your calendars.
Ryan Murphy's Kennedy Family Saga "American Love Story" Has a Female Lead
First came Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology series "American Horror Story," which is now up to 12 seasons and includes the spin-off "American Horror Stories." Then came "American Crime Story," which in its three seasons has told the stories of the O.J. Simpson murder trial, the assassination of Gianni Versace, and the Monica Lewinsky White House affair. Then came last year's "American Sports Story" about former New England Patriots tight end and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez.
Now, Murphy's production company is adding a new chapter to the "American Story" franchise — "American Love Story," which in its first season will tell the romantic and tragic tale of John F. Kennedy Jr. (widely known as John-John) and Carolyn Bessette. Broadway Stages previously provided facilities for Murphy's series "Pose" (2018-2021) and his miniseries "Halston" (2021), and now we are home to two of his upcoming productions, with both "American Love Story" and "The Beauty" now filming at our Brooklyn facilities.
So far, half of the couple has been cast, with Sarah Pidgeon ("The Wilds") set to star as the fashion publicist Bessette who married John-John in 1996. Tragically, three years later the couple died in a plane crash off the coast of Martha's Vineyard.
Pidgeon made her Broadway debut last year in "Stereophonic," which earned a record 13 Tony Award nominations and won Best Play. She earned a nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her role as Diana, the vocalist for a rock band consisting of several feuding couples.
As we find out more casting information, we will be sure to let you know.
Austin Butler's "Caught Stealing" Coming This Summer
Mark August 29 on your calendar if you are excited to see Austin Butler's next big screen performance. Butler stars in Darren Aronofsky's upcoming adaptation of Charlie Huston's 2004 novel "Caught Stealing." The action thriller utilized five of the stages in our Brooklyn facility during a 51-day shoot last fall.
Butler will star as Hank Thompson, a washed-out former professional baseball player who gets inadvertently caught up with the mafia in 1990s New York City. The film has a large ensemble cast that includes Oscar winner Regina King, Zoë Kravitz, Matt Smith, Liev Schreiber, Vincent D'Onofrio, Carol Kane, Will Brill, Griffin Dunne, D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, George Abud, and rappers Bad Bunny and Action Bronson.
"Caught Stealing" is the first in Huston's "Henry Thompson" book trilogy, and he is adapting the screenplay himself. Huston is no stranger to screenwriting, as he previously wrote three episodes of Fox's hit series "Gotham" and served as a producer for its fourth and fifth seasons.
The upcoming crime thriller got some buzz at Las Vegas's CinemaCon last week. Aronofsky, who is known for directing dark, surreal films like "Pi" (1998) and "Requiem for a Dream" (2000), unveiled the first-look teaser trailer at the annual gathering of cinema owners and Hollywood studios.
We can't wait to check out "Caught Stealing" when it comes to theaters later this summer!
